I have to give it to Toilet Toss: when it comes to naming, they really nailed it with this one. You toss stuff. In a toilet. The game really is as simple as that.

I’ve been following the developer’s projects for a while, and as such have been waiting a while to finally get my hanfs on the game. However, is this free to play game woth downloading?

As mentioned in my review for Just Hoops, I’m a big fan of throwing things into other things. For whatever reason, I find it puts me into a zen-like trance as I feel for the fight trajectory and launch direction. And when it lands? It’s immensely satisfying. Toilet Toss offers me that fix as it challenges me to throw things inside a toilet; however, there’s actually more depth to the game than I had initially anticipated.

Aside from throwing projectiles into the bog, you’ll also be able to rack up extra points by hitting targets that appear. The problem is that it’s not as simple as just getting a good throw, since you’ll often be up against various obstacles that threaten to block your path. Whether it’s the washing machine threatening to upset your shots, or the bubbles that (somehow) envelop anything thrown into it, it can be made more difficult than you may have anticipated.

Unfortunately this difficulty is only exacerbated by the very unintuitive way that you pick stuff up. Rather than grabbing stuff in your hand and then launching them as appropriate, instead it sorta magnetises itself to the ball that you take control of. That means that it’s never exactly in the place you want, and makes the throwing trajectory pretty difficult to calculate. I had shots that I was certain should go in, but the weird way that the game has you throwing makes you fail more often than you should.

Still, this is something that can be fixed in order to make it a worthwhile time-waster. With it’s multiplayer 1 v 1 mode, coins you can earn (or buy with real world currency) for cosmetics, and leaderboards, there’s certainly enough to justify the storage space – but it really needs to address its fundamental throwing mechanics first.

VERDICT
Whilst some poor throwing mechanics spoil what would otherwise have been a fun free to play time waster, there’s still a lot of charm at the heart of Toilet Toss. If they can tighten things up in a future patch, this may well be worth the download.
